The grand finale of the IPL 2016 season took place at the iconic M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday, 29th May 2016. The climactic clash saw the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) taking on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a thrilling encounter that had fans on the edge of their seats.

Sunrisers Hyderabad emerged victorious, defeating RCB by a narrow margin of just 8 runs to clinch their maiden IPL title, adding a thrilling chapter to their franchise history.

Batting first, RCB set a formidable total of 200 runs with outstanding contributions from their star players. Chris Gayle led the charge with an explosive 76 runs off just 53 balls, smashing 4 boundaries and 8 sixes at a spectacular strike rate of 200.00. Following him, the ever-consistent Virat Kohli chipped in with a valuable 54 runs from 63 deliveries. Other notable contributions came from Sachin Baby, who managed a well-compiled 18 runs, but fell short of accelerating the innings due to a lack of partnerships. Ultimately, RCB ended their innings at 200 for 7 in 20 overs.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad, galvanized by their captain David Warner’s magnificent innings of 69 runs from 58 balls, achieved the required target, finishing at 208 runs despite losing 7 wickets. Warner’s knock, which featured 8 fours and 3 sixes, laid the foundation for an incredible chase. Yuvraj Singh also played a pivotal role, scoring 38 runs off 32 balls. Ben Cutting showcased his finishing prowess, ending up with a notable 39 runs off 26 balls, remaining unbeaten as his team reached the total of 208.

For RCB, S Aravind was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4 overs, while Chris Jordan also took 3 wickets but could not contain runs, conceding 45 runs in his quota of 4 overs.

The victory was secured thanks to the well-paced strike rate and calculated knocks by SRH's batsmen while effectively countering the pressure placed by RCB’s bowling attack.

This gripping final left fans in awe as Sunrisers Hyderabad lifted the trophy amidst celebrations, marking a memorable conclusion to the IPL 2016 season. Whether it’s the edge-of-their-seat finishes, remarkable player performances, or the sheer unpredictability of cricket, this match will surely be etched in the memories of fans for years to come.
